National Grapefruit Month

Happy Grapefruits!  Loaded with vitamin C, vitamin A, and fiber which makes for a great breakfast.  Comes in a variety of colors – red, white, and pink.  This fruit grows mainly in Florida.  Plus they smell amazing!  Cut in half and smell the fruity aroma.  Then sprinkle with a little bit of sugar and broil in the oven for a couple minutes.  Watch as the fruit gets bubbly and golden brown.  A great healthy treat and dessert!  

Why are grapefruits amazing?

Boosts immune system because packed with vitamin C and A

Helps with weight management because of the fiber

Gives a feeling of fullness

May help prevent kidney stones

Very hydrating – water filled fruit

Grapefruit the superfood!

Chock full of vitamin C, vitamin A, calcium, iron

Vitamin C – works with protein metabolism which in turn helps with wound healing due to collagen, improves immune function

An antioxidant food….meaning it protects cells from damage and harmful bacteria

Small amounts of B vitamins, zinc, copper

Helps prevent infection

How to include this fruit in your meals?

Cut in half and scoop segments with a spoon or use a grapefruit spoon which has serrated edges

Enjoy as a snack or with breakfast

Sprinkle on a little sugar

Juice for mimosas or palomas

Add to smoothies, salads, and quinoa

Create a breakfast fruit parfait with Greek yogurt
